How to Listen in Prayer

This concept of listening to God in prayer cannot be stressed enough. Listening causes us to know the will of God changing our perspective and motives in life. So often we come to God in prayer with our agenda with elegant words full of pride, but God wants us to be humbly patient before Him waiting in prayer.

Don’t be afraid to patiently and quietly wait before the Lord to hear His plan for your life. Don’t worry if He is going to ask you to go to the deepest darkest Africa as a missionary. He will first tell you how much He loves you and how much He enjoys you taking time to commune with Him. He will start slowly teaching you His will for your life which will gradually change you from the inside out. Jesus died for you paying for your sin, so repent of any sins then spend time in the presence of the Most Holy God. You will not hear spoken words or have a vision of Jesus sitting on the foot of your bed. In fact, greater is your faith if you believe having not seen.

I have found that listening to God works better when I use a prayer journal. Writing down the words that come to your spirit keeps you focused. As a new Christian, I would always look up scriptures to support the words I wrote to be sure I wasn’t going off on some kind of tangent. As the years go by in your reading of the word you will know better exactly how God words each sentence. Understand that God will speak in your language and style because He is God speaking to you personally, so don’t be alarmed if some of His words are quirky. One of the benefits of a prayer journal is that you can go back to it over the years to get better revelation on God’s personal words to you and you will see just how many of your prayers have been answered.

Humankind, through science, continually funds exorbitant science projects to understand the underlying substance of the universe, only to find they know even less with every discovery. We built a large hadron collider for $4.75 billion to find out the substructure of the universe. The sad part is that the human mind cannot understand anything beyond space and time, yet we have an irresistible urge to find something more permanent and trustworthy. We are bound to the limits of this physical universe; we also have sin clouding our thoughts. A spirit-filled Christian does have access to the secrets of the spiritual world.

Jesus, please come again soon! Each day we suffer as we wait for your return. I know it will seem quick after you return, but now each day seems like a million years as we wait for the one we love. I know you are in my heart listening to every prayer intently, but this is nothing compared to seeing you face to face. To feel your arms around me, reassuring me that I am safe for eternity. I do love you, and I rejoice that you are now at the right hand of the Father, interceding for me day and night. You have just blown my mind, though, because you are my everything, and I cannot imagine someone greater than you. I will take your word that there is someone greater than the Alpha and Omega. We worship God in all His glory, who is the ultimate!

Listening in Prayer is Powerful

Lana is an excellent writer with clear concise thoughts. Nothing is better than praying and listening to God our Father. His Word is alive and available for those that listen. Her book is wonderfully filled with insights on listening to God with humility.

I would warn anyone who has insights into the immediate future to beware because this is not how God typically prophecies. The enemy can impersonate the spiritual gifts so always confirm prophecy with scripture. Also just because numbers, incidents, and things reappear in your life in a series does not mean this is from God. I would discourage you from being led down this path the enemy can use so easily.

Her statement “God will never speak to you in a way that brings condemnation.” Is not true for hypocrites. She is right concerning a humble forgiven Saint who only knows our Father’s love. We can assume her teaching is for pure saints who are forgiven.

The short section on not casting pearls before swine should be noted. Often God will give you a personal word that you should not share with others, especially those not filled with the Holy Spirit.

The section Love Changes Everything is powerful. This principle changed my life when I really saw how much God loves me, so now I can truly love others.

Excellent word on hungering and thirsting after the voice of our Father. We are thankful for the Holy Spirit that gives us eyes to see and ears to hear the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven. Good advice to wait on God for miracles every day which are often His word. Also excellent advice to focus on the Word of love from above ignoring the old lies of the serpent.

I struggle in the Spirit with her words “divine interruption” because to interrupt is to obstruct someone speaking. Our Father in Heaven speaks continuously like a living fountain. How can we insinuate His word obstructs, interrupts or stops anything? His words flow with love, comfort, and peace.

The Ark of the Covenant
Let the power of God be revealed

We Have All Gone Astray

Bring them back to God!
“I use God’s mighty weapons,
not those made by men,
to knock down the Devil’s strongholds.
These weapons can break down
every proud argument against God
and every wall that can be built
to keep men from finding him.
With these weapons, I can capture rebels
and bring them back to God
and change them into men whose hearts’ desire
is obedience to Christ.
I will use these weapons against every rebel
who remains after I have first used them
on you yourselves and you surrender to Christ.”

We all know people who have strayed away from God’s love who are now living in a spiritual wilderness. God wants to give you a parable so you can understand their situation then know how to pray for them precisely.

Once there was a man who faithfully served and loved the king. The king of the land appreciated his servant and friend. One day a man showed up at the man’s door telling him he was sent by the King. He lied creating a religious web of lies telling the man the king would only love him if he did certain things. He said the king wanted him to quit asking the difficult questions and just blindly attend the religious meetings created by this messenger. The man was so discouraged and disappointed in the king thinking their friendship was coming to an end, so he thought he better leave the kingdom, especially to get away from this false messenger. He moved into the wilderness but without a job or savings, he soon started living in poverty. Anytime anyone moved near him mentioning anything of the king, religion, or the false messenger he ran further into the wilderness away from the water, bread, and sustenance he needed. He grew resentful of the King swearing he would never have anything to do with his kingdom again because he was offended. The sad part was the King loved him. The king had not sent the false messenger nor did he condone the religion that he set up even though the followers who said they loved the king but it was all a pretense for self-glory. At times the king would search for his faithful servant, but like two magnets with reverse polarity, this only pushed the lost man further into the wilderness. The king had abundant blessings of wealth he wanted to give the man so he searched for him constantly.

We agree in prayer for these lost sheep that the enemy with all his lies will be bound. We pray that Jesus will appear in all his love to these lost ones rescuing them from the wilderness bringing them back to the blessings.

Inspiring Prayer Will Change Your Life

My current book I am writing is about prayer. I am learning the more I pray the more that is being revealed about how prayer works. How amazing that God gave us the ability to communicate with Him, but He communicates back with us it’s not with just words, but the fruits of the Holy Spirit. As we pray spending time in His presence He fills us with love, peace, joy and so much more. I have learned the key to successful prayer is to mostly listen, not just talk and ask. We need to pause which opens up the communication channels to listen to God’s will for our lives. I have found that if I write down my prayers it helps to keep my mind focused. I always compare what God is speaking to my heart with scripture to be sure I am not listening to any other spirit. When you listen God will tell you how much He loves you and how He wants you to pray for the people around you sharing His love. Writing down prayers is an excellent method for seeing how great our God is because we can look back at our prayers to be amazed at how many are answered. The more we pray opening up our hearts we learn to be constant in prayer during every aspect of our life trusting God as our Father.

Climbing Mount Zion (Pt VII)

The Master plan is for Christians to climb Mt. Zion as a team. Each team member supports each other during the grueling ascent. Secured to one another with ropes, spiritual climbers can make it to the top safely and keep each other from sliding into the crevasses of sin. When the team nears the top the revelation of God’s Kingdom is revealed. At these heights, confusion can set in, so climbers will often start to fight with each other and debate who has the highest position, which is another sign of “altitude sickness” or pride. The goal of a team of Christian climbers is to reach the summit, the city of God, then turn and behold the most wondrous beauty of all — God’s kingdom. Those who endure will reach the top and walk safely in the heavenly city of New Jerusalem, in the presence of the Lord.

Ezekiel 20

40 “For on my holy mountain,

the mountain height of Israel, says the Lord God,

there all the house of Israel, all of them,

shall serve me in the land;

there I will accept them,

and there I will require your contributions

and the choicest of your gifts,

with all your sacred offerings.

41 As a pleasing odor I will accept you,

when I bring you out from the peoples,

and gather you out of the countries

where you have been scattered;

and I will manifest my holiness among you

in the sight of the nations. RSV

Climbing Mount Zion (Pt VI)

“For you have need of endurance,

so that you may do the will of God

and receive what is promised.”

Hebrews 10:36

Unprepared Christian climbers can easily slip into crevasses of past sin. Avalanches engulf the spiritually unprepared with the cares of this world choking out spiritual goals. Altitude sickness, better known to the Christian as pride is when they forget their past sins for which they have been forgiven. The only way to overcome altitude sickness is to return down to base camp. In the “valley of humility,” the Lord reminds us of what we have come through and teaches us the value of grace.

Climbers often get caught in snowstorms and have to cling to the slopes sheltering in their tents, as the winds swirl snow forming a “white‑out” that blinds a climber. Be warned, at high altitudes on Mount Zion, a” white-out of doubt” can blind a Christian. These storms will treacherously stall a team of climbers for several days clinging to a high mountain ridge. Waiting out a storm uses up valuable supplies and many times the climber will have to abandon the expedition. Patience and perfect timing are essential to a successful climb of any mountain.

Climbing Mount Zion (Pt V)

Expert climbers take the time to prepare at base camp reviewing maps and considering the future weather conditions for the climb. A Climber will typically take a path that a previous successful climber used. Christian climbers use the Bible to find the successful path of others who have reached the heavenly city at the top. We should take time to study the topography of the mountain using a powerful telescope to preview the best course and watching those who have gone before us. From this vantage point we see the grandeur and beauty of the mountain slopes inspiring us. Now is the time to organize your climbing tools – the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, there are some who are content to stay at base camp, but Spirit inspired Christian will press up into the heavenly heights of God’s presence.

Be wary, thousands attempt to climb the peak of Mt. Zion, but only a few are willing to make the commitment to reach the holy city at the top.
